Homemade Cleaners

We have slowly over the past year been switching our cleaners from supermarket bought ones, to homemade echo friendly ones.

what i love about making my own clearners, that i know exactly the ingredients, and many of them can be made with only two to four ingredients, that you may even already have in your pantry.

So here are some of the basic items you need to make the cleaning products:

  • Baking Soda
  • Vinegar
  • Lemon/lemon juice
  •  Borax
  • Washing Soda
  • Washing bar soap
  • Dish washing detergent
  • Essential oils
  • Castile soap *
  • Measuring cups/spoons
Some of you might not like the smell of Vinegar, therefore that's when essential oils, such as lavender, lemon oil..can be added to the cleaners and the smell of vinegar disappears.

RECIPES

LAUNDRY DETERGENT - 1 cup of soap flakes ( i used pure soap), 1 cup of washing soda, 1 cup of Borax. I use two tablespoons for every load.
* Note you can find all of these products at your local supermarkets in the Detergent section.

FABRIC SOFTENER - 2 cups of vinegar, 10 drops of essential oils

ALL PURPOSE CLEANER - 1/2 tsp of dish washing detergent,  1 tsp of baking soda, 2tbsp of white vinegar, 2 cups of water, 3 drops of essential oils

TOILET CLEANER - 1/2 cup of baking soda, 1/4 cup of vinegar, 10 drops of essential oil ( sprinkle the baking soda straight into toilet bowl, mix the vinegar and oil and spray into toilet bowl and scrub)

FLOOR CLEANER - 1/4 cup of dish washing detergent, 1/4 cup of white vinegar, 1/4 cup of lemon juice, 10 drops of essential oil, (add to bucket of hot water)

*I will make a download version for you to print.

I will be adding more homemade products over time and all those mention above, i have personally tried them and tested them. Not to mention that the cost of homemade cleaners is quite low and you can make big batches that will last you much longer than store bought options.

HAPPY CLEANING!

DIY: Driftwood Wind Chime or Wall Art

DIY: Driftwood Wind Chime or Wall Art I love bringing treasures from the beach. I love collecting interesting pieces of driftwood and shells. I think most people do but most don't know what to do with their finds. I been wanting to create a beautiful piece with driftwood and shells - its a wonderful way to bring a little bit of the ocean into our homes. Here's a peek: I was inspired by the almost perfect concave shape of the driftwood. There's lots of versions of this wind chime/wall art using driftwood. I decided to make my own version with some of my beach treasures. Step One: Find the right piece of driftwood. Not too flimsy and long enough to attach at least five pieces of twine. Find a driftwood piece that's interesting and has the right shape. Here's the Materials you need: driftwood & seashells natural twine hot glue gun (not shown) scissors Step Two: Lay out your materials onto your work space and piece together how you...

Quick Craft Tuesday

Today i am bringing you a quick an easy crafty project that can be completed in 15 minutes or less. We are talking about a nightstand charging station for your mobile phone. I like to keep my mobile phone next to me at night time for easy access and that's the time i like to charge my mobile phone too, so it makes sense to have a charging station on my nightstand. This charging Station was re purposed out of an empty "Clinique gift box".  The box was the perfect size and shape with a pull out drawer. Its very simple and inexpensive to make, you will need: An empty gift box (preferably with a pull out drawer) pretty wrapping paper  scissors glue sticky tape Wrap empty box with your preferred pretty wrapping paper ( there's a few ways to wrap a box, easiest way its to cut a long strip of wrap paper that will go around entire box, glue or sticky tape ends to the inside of box and then cut two strips for the sides of box and again glue or sticky tape ends ...

Make-Up Organisation

I am one of those girls that loves to wear a bit of make up everyday.. my routine in the morning usually goes something like this, get up, have a shower, get dress, make a coffee and walk towards my vanity to apply a bit of make up..nothing too much, just a light foundation ( shhh don't tell anyone but i have some freckles and i am not even a red head :) ) a soft eye shadow, mascara and love lipstick. But my make up system was frustrating me, as i had about four cosmetic bags, one to hold my pencils and mascara, another to hold lipstick and lip gloss, another to hold foundation and mineral powder and yet another for my spare cosmetics. And because i dont have that much room to display my make up, i had to come up with a system that didn't take too much room, something compact to hold my everyday make up and pretty of course. So i spotted this mirrored cosmetic organizer at Store and grab it quick smart. The cosmetic organizer is made of durable acrylic and its divided by p...
